Ball Thief is a new small business based in Portland, Oregon that makes the ultimate soccer ball for dogs.

Our story begins with a dog. A very finicky dog. Isa never liked to fetch whenever we threw the ball. But she loved it when we kicked it and most of our playtime with her became a kind of “dog soccer.” Over time, we thought it would be fun to engage with other dogs this way, and we found that dogs really loved playing soccer as a variation on traditional fetch. For them, it was more interactive. For us, it meant saving our shoulders and minimizing hand contact with slobbery balls.

After years of dog soccer, we decided to design the ultimate ball geared toward this way of playing with our pets. After months of design and production, we created a ball small enough for dog jaws but big enough for human feet, and perfectly weighted for kicking at all distances. Made of soft, three-millimeter-thick latex, it’s tough enough for serious play but light enough to bounce off dogs without hurting them. The color scheme on the ball is also designed for maximum contrast within the spectrum of colors visible to the average dog. When we tested it with other dogs, we found that they went wild over it. The final product, the Ball Thief “World Player Ball,” is optimally designed to bring the game we love to our favorite animals.

Why soccer?  Soccer provides a healthy,  interactive way to play with your pet. More important—IT’S FUN. It’s high time that we humans stop hogging all the fun and share the game we love with our four-legged friends.
