At Ball Thief, we love soccer and we love dogs. 

Our story starts with a dog that was hard to please. The dog in this photo, in particular. Meet Isa. 

Isa never liked traditional fetch. As it turns out, neither did we. We didn't like touching slobbery balls and nursing achy shoulders. As a puppy, she loved it when we kicked balls to her. She was too little to run far, and it ended up being a more interactive way to play and a better way to bond.

As she grew up, she wanted more intense play, which meant kicking harder and farther. We tried with lighter balls and she just tore them to shreds. When we ued heavier balls, even tennis balls, whenever she got in front of the balls (playing solid defense, we have to admit), the heavy balls thudded off her. They hurt. We knew we had work to do.

How would we make a ball that was substantial enough to play a mean game of soccer, but light enough that it wouldn't hurt her if she ran into it (or in Isa's case, tried to catch a line-drive right in her chompers)? 

Enter Ball Thief. We designed a soccer ball ideally suited to playing soccer with a dog. We wanted something large and heavy enough that people could have fun kicking it, but needed it light and flexible enough that dogs would have fun playing with it.
